Why underwriters ask about it
AI insurers specifically cover "unauthorized agent actions" — wrong refunds, wrong purchases, wrong commitments. An agent with undocumented authority is the exact risk they price for.
How to fix it
- For each agent in your inventory, fill out an authority sheet: can it read records? draft messages? send them? book appointments? quote prices? take payment? issue refunds? change customer records? Answer yes or no to each.
- For every "yes," set a hard cap in writing — for example: refunds up to $50, bookings only in open calendar slots, quotes only from the approved price list.
- Configure the tool to match the sheet wherever the setting exists; where it doesn't, the cap becomes a human-approval rule (R2.2).
Evidence to keep
one authority sheet per agent, dated, matching the tool's actual settings.
