The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a Galanz Retro Refrigerator recall on July 30, 2026. It covers about 121,680 units and says internal electrical parts can short-circuit and ignite, creating fire and burn risks.
CPSC identifies five affected models—BCD-215V-62H, GLR76TRDER, GLR76TBKER, GLR76TBEER and GLR76TWEER—with date codes from December 2018 through December 2020. The agency says the model and date code appear on a label at the upper left on the back of the refrigerator.
The notice says the refrigerators were sold at Home Depot stores nationwide and on Amazon from January 2019 through September 2022 for $330 to $520. CPSC is aware of 34 reports of fire involving the refrigerators; one resulted in a fatality, according to a local fire-department report.
The dated recall notice tells owners to unplug and stop using a matching refrigerator until repaired, then contact Galanz to schedule a free in-home repair by a qualified technician. This article does not confirm the repair status of any specific refrigerator.
