A CPSC notice dated August 27, 2026, reannounces the Mainstays nine-drawer fabric dresser recall. It covers about 165,250 units total, including about 165,000 that had already been recalled in May.
The CPSC says the dressers can be unstable if not anchored to a wall, creating tip-over and entrapment hazards that can seriously injure or kill children. The agency says the dressers violate the mandatory safety standard required by the STURDY Act.
The notice says recalled dressers were sold after the earlier recall through several liquidators and is intended to alert those purchasers. CPSC advises stopping use of unanchored units, keeping them away from children, and contacting Walmart for a refund.
The CPSC says consumers will be asked to return the drawers to a Walmart store and dispose of the dresser frame under local and state rules.
